I am sad to announce that Brother Andrew J. Mihok, Journeyman Lineman, Card #D73740 passed away on Monday November 26th. Andy was initiated into Local 1249 on December 27, 1955 and he became Business Manager of Local 1249 in 1982. From the stories I have heard, Andy was a true leader and he led with an iron fist until he retired in November 1995. IBEW Local 1249 is strong today because of Andy's strong leadership skills and always fighting for its members! RIP Brother.

 

Andrew J. Mihok, 88, of The Hideout in Lake Ariel, Pa died Sunday evening at home after a long illness with family by his side.


Born in Mahwah, NJ he was the son of the late Andrew J. and Margaret "Jean" Petrosky Mihok. He was a member of IBEW Local Union 1249 of East Syracuse, NY for over 60 years. He was an avid Golfer and diehard NY Giants and Yankees fan.


Surviving is his wife of 57 years the former Carol Herlihy; daughters Andrea Scanlon of Honesdale and Suzanne Yadav and her husband Ravi of New York, NY; sons Joseph Mihok and his wife Eileen of Schenectady, NY, Jonathan Mihok and his wife Kristi of Castle Rock, CO, and Judson Mihok and his wife Susan of Lutherville - Timonium, MD; a sister Jean Hunt of DuBois, Pa; 15 Grandchildren; 2 Great Grandchildren; Nieces and Nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son-in-law Derek Scanlon.


Private Cremation took place at Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel.


A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, December 15 at 11 a.m. in St. Thomas More Church, 105 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel, by Rev. Stephen Stavoy.


Following the Mass, all are welcome to join the family for lunch at The Hideout Clubhouse, N. Fairway Dr. Lake Ariel, Pa. Arrangements have been entrusted to and under the direction of James Wilson Funeral Home, Lake Ariel.
