As we prepare for tonight's Executive Board Meeting and Union meeting, I want all of you to know that we will be selling shirts and hats and that ALL proceeds will go directly to Jeremy's Family. Jeremy's passing is a shock to all of us. Moving forward we need to come together as a family. I know it's going to take time to heal and we will never forget the day this happened. That day when a family, the Brotherhood, lost their beloved Jeremy. To the members that were working for Northline on that job and were there when this horrible accident happened, Jeremy is gone and moving forward we must remember that everyone is hurting. Journeyman Lineman risk their lives every day and the more challenging the job the more we want to volunteer for it. Some of you will read this and maybe get angry with me but that's okay. I have had many emotions since Tuesday morning when I found out Brother Adam Lanoir had passed at the young age of 42. He was married with two young boys. Then later that day Jeremy and Ben were in a horrific accident taking the life of Brother Jeremy. He was only 30 years old with young children. Mad, sad, wondering why this happened, maybe we will never know. I know Brother Ben Mcallister is probably wondering why he is still here and only suffered minor injuries. I can't help but insert my feelings into everyone that has been affected by this. So please, I'm asking you to grab your brother and your sister and just shake their hand, or better yet hug them and tell them you're here for them! All involved are hurting; management, contractors and members. Peace Brothers and Sisters and Pray for everyone that has been affected by this.
Below I have provided the obituary for Jeremy Kearns from both the Watertown Daily Times and the Olean Times Herald. The obituary includes information about the services that will be held on Sunday and Monday. If you want to help the family, donations will be accepted at the next union meeting. If you aren't local, the NSUJL is helping us out - you can donate by clicking here and note that it is for the Kearns famliy. The NSUJL is a nonprofit ogranization dedicated to assisting fallen or injured IBEW Linemen, Utility Linemen, Apprentice Linemen, Groundmen, Operators, LCTT and their families. 100% of donation is used to assist families.
