Local 1249 Loses 2 Brothers

Thursday, August 22, 2019
I am sure by now that all of you have heard that we lost 2 Brothers on Monday. Brother Justin McLoughlin, Local 1249 Second Step Apprentice Card Number  8276076, and Local 94 Journeyman Lineman Derrick Paris, card number 7649606, lost their lives when the guy wire they were working on made contact with a 69KV Transmission Line. They were working for EJ Electric in the town of Chester, and the work was being done on Orange & Rockland property.

Local 1249 sends out its deepest condolences to the families of our fallen Brothers. We stand with them and will answer the call in any way we can.
I'm asking all job sites to start taking a collection for the two families if you haven't done so already.

We do not have any details at this time for services but will post them when available.

Please be safe out there. No job task is simple or routine and we all need to communicate and come up with a plan and execute it and if a situation arises out of scope, stop and reevaluate the job at hand. Nothing, I mean nothing, is more important than everyone going home safely at the end of the day.  Always use proper PPE and never cut corners!
