It's been a very busy couple of months with negotiations and ratification meetings. The new 4 year Agreement passed with a vote of 167 yes to 3 no. I would like to thank our negotiating committee for all of their hard work and input throughout the process. I would also like to thank all of you for your continued support for myself and my staff. It's an understatement that a General Foreman or Foreman is only as good as the crew that's working for him or her. Without their commitment, skill and knowledge no progress would be made and no credit could be taken. We will continue to work hard and fight for what is right.
As a reminder, the Bobby Shutter Memorial Golf Tournament will be at Meadow Brook Golf Club, 8702 Ball Rd, Weedsport, NY 13166. The cost is $45 per person and this includes your ticket for the Pork Barbeque at the American Legion in Union Springs.
Another topic I would like to touch on, is our ability to maintain Local 1249's Jurisdiction. I know there is a lot of work outside of our jurisdiction but if we do not man our own jurisdiction, it could be taken from us or even worse, taken over by Non-Union Contractors. The Utility's don't give a shit about the work picture elsewhere, they only care about what's happening in their back yard and you should too. If we can't man the work, then they will look for a Contractor that can man it and we all know who those Contractors are. So please, look at where you are working and then remember who gave you the opportunity to become what you are, "Journeyman Lineman". We must man our work or someone else will!
Please note that Local 1249's Union Meeting will be at the new Safety Training Facility located at 8533 Brewerton Rd., Cicero, New York 13039. There will be food and beverages available along with a chance for you to check out the new training center. The meeting will start promptly at 8 PM, thank you and hope to see you there.
