Beware of Ticks

Friday, April 19, 2019
Ticks are active all year but now that warmer weather is coming there will be more and more of them. Take some of these precautions to protect ourselves:

  • Wear light colored clothing to be able to identify ticks easier and tuck them in to seal off potential access points for the tick.

  • Use tick repellent containing Permethrin, it remains on clothing for several washes.

  • Conduct a body check daily to make sure there are none on you. They like to be in warm moist areas of the body like under the arm pit, in and around ears, between the legs and in belly buttons.
If a tick is found on your body, you can remove it by grabbing it as close to the skin as possible and pulling it straight out. Some body parts of the tick might be left in your skin with no problems, but it would be best to seek medical attention if you're not sure.

Keep in mind that ticks aren't only at the work site. If you have pets or small children at home, take precautions. Please take this seriously!
